Hargreaves Lansdown PLC is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead an Investment Growth product engineering team. You will drive technical delivery, growth of engineers, and build market-leading solutions for clients in Bristol.

The role requires strong leadership, product collaboration and a focus on architecture and nonfunctional requirements. The role offers hybrid working with up to 3 days remote and 2 days in the Bristol office, and a comprehensive benefits package including

HL are looking for a talented Software Engineering Manager to lead one of our Investment Growth product engineering teams in building market-leading solutions for our clients. What You'll Be Doing

• Leading a cross-functional product engineering team
• Supporting the growth of our Software Engineers
• Driving technical delivery, continuous improvement and innovation
• Partnering closely with technical/business leaders and teams to understand business processes and data flows/challenges/opportunities, and design solutions to deliver better outcomes for our clients and colleagues
• Recruiting and shaping an existing team to be a high-performing set of talented and experienced professionals
• Ownership of services under your team - maintenance, support, security and continuous improvement
• Establish a culture that is driven by purpose and excellence, and a team that is motivated to make a difference

About You

• Strong technology leadership experience within complex organisations
• You set guard rails around scope, technology, quality, nonfunctional requirements, and best practices, then empower your team to find the best solution within these guard rails
• You enjoy working in a product and client value driven environment. Collaborating closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders
• Strong understanding of full-stack engineering best practices, including CICD and observability
• Acted as a strong partner to multiple business areas to deliver on key priorities with a one-team mindset
• Strong people focus - you prioritise your team’s learning and development, understand how to keep your team motivated and build a strong culture based on psychological safety
• Able to manage ambiguity and seek clarity through collaboration and communication
• Strong software engineering background, able to define and communicate complex architectural concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Proven experience in managing deliveries from discovery through to launch with high transparency and visibility throughout

Interview Process

This will be a three-stage interview process, comprising an initial informal call with the hiring manager, followed by two structured interviews.

Working Schedule

37.5 hours flexible, based upon meeting business demands, with up to 3 days remote working and 2 days a week at our Bristol office
