As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within our Core & Foundational Platforms group, particularly in the Gaia MySQL Database Product team, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of our contemporary private cloud offering. Your responsibilities will encompass provisioning, automation, scaling, integrations, and self-service. We are looking for team members passionate about solving business problems through inventive engineering practices. Your extensive knowledge and skills will be utilized throughout the entire software development lifecycle, with frequent interactions with stakeholders to ensure alignment with shared objectives.

Job Responsibilities

1. Reviewing and elaborating stakeholder requirements. Collaborate with Product Owners to shape product direction, balancing technical feasibility and end-user desires.
2. Implement solutions focusing on both functional and non-functional requirements.
3. Design and develop solutions that are highly reliable, scalable, and performant, leveraging reusable code, application architecture, and framework capabilities to meet business-defined service levels.
4. Conduct code reviews to ensure quality solutions are built and tested.
5. Contribute to technical code and design documentation.
6. Perform analysis and troubleshooting to provide production support and L3 coverage.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification in Python concepts with practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience in Unix Shell scripting & SQL.
• Experience in REST API design and development.
• Knowledge of security and authentication protocols (e.g., OIDC, OAuth).
• Experience with build automation, test-driven development, continuous integration, and delivery.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience working with public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is advantageous.
• Experience with TypeScript and React is advantageous.
• Experience with Docker is advantageous.
• Experience with Ansible is advantageous.
• Experience with Relational Databases, especially MySQL, is advantageous.
