Job summary

1st Central is looking for 3 talented Software Engineers to help shape the future of our core insurance platform. Working in a Scrum team, you’ll design, develop and support features that deliver real value to customers and colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern technologies and engineering practices in a flexible hybrid setup. Teams are based across Salford Quays (Manchester), Haywards Heath and Guernsey, with monthly in-person sessions.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in software development.
• Proficiency in front-end and back-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML/CSS, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL, Angular, Microsoft .NET).
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Experience of SQL writing and general database designs.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Understanding of service-based architectures and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support features across the full development stack in a Scrum team.
• Collaborate within the team to deliver solutions to existing issues and new features.
• Create and maintain unit tests to support code quality.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code.
• Contribute to prioritisation and delivery dates based on business and technical priorities.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
