Job summary

Longshot Systems, a UK-based provider of sports betting analytics, is seeking a Software Engineer to own and develop our trading platform. You will architect and implement features, uphold coding standards, CI/CD, observability and security, and help push performance and stability.

The role focuses on integrating venues, optimizing critical paths, and contributing to the broader system. You will work in Go and other systems languages, in a hybrid setup with Thursdays in our London office, and

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience building distributed systems with throughput, correctness, and availability as hard requirements.
• Production systems experience in at least one systems language (Go, C++, Rust, Java, C#, etc.) with idiomatic design.
• Startup experience shipping products in small, fast-moving teams.
• Ability to reason about trade-offs and design evolvable service boundaries.
• Cloud & DevOps experience with AWS and Linux; build pipelines familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement features for the trading platform to meet product goals.
• Integrate more trading venues and optimise key parts of the platform.
• Improve performance, safety and reliability of the trading feed.
• Enforce coding standards, CI/CD, observability and security across the stack.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on long-term system design.
