Job summary

ECM Selection (Holdings) Limited in Royston, Hertfordshire, invites applications for a senior/mid-level software engineer to join a small software team. The role focuses on designing and developing data collection and analysis software for scientific instrumentation and contributing to instrument control.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in a related field and have proven experience delivering hardware-related software to market, with strong C#/C++, Windows and Linux skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable industry project experience delivering hardware-related instrumentation software.
• Strong programming skills in C#, C++, Windows and Linux, with Python/TypeScript a plus.

Work in a small software team on scientific instrumentation software projects

Royston, Hertfordshire; to £65,000 DoE

This established scientific instrument company provides applied biotechnologies used for protein characterisation, antibody discovery and cell line development. Their instruments are based on proprietary innovations around microfluidic systems and transformative in-solution technologies.

Responsibilities

• design and development of data collection and analysis software
• contributing to instrument control
• debugging embedded software
• provide relevant testing

They currently have a small software team and are looking for a senior / mid-level software engineer to join them.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics or other related discipline.
• Demonstrable industry project experience in software engineering including the successful delivery of hardware-related instrumentation products to market.
• Wide range of technical competence in programming including C#, MVVM, and C++. This should include application software for both Windows and Linux. Additonal experience with Python, and TypeScript would be advantageous.
• Any experience with image processing, Java or machine learning would be desirable.

This role is based fully onsite at their offices in Royston including parking and are within walking distance of the local train station.
