Job summary

Shillito Group, a Sheffield-based international manufacturing business, is seeking a Software Engineer – Embedded Systems. Reporting to the Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will design, develop and test software for the current product portfolio and future products, collaborating with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.

You should be a practical, curious engineer who enjoys solving real problems and learning as requirements evolve.

Qualifications

• Degree in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience with embedded systems or firmware development.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Experience with APIs and databases.
• Ability to work independently and across system parts.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and problem solve software within current product portfolio and future products.
• Reduce time to market of new features, on-time delivery.
• Improve response to failures/bugs and produce well-documented code.
• Work on integrations, APIs, automation and tooling.
• Collaborate with hardware teams on low-level systems and microcontrollers.

Job description

We are delighted to be supporting a Sheffield based, international manufacturing business with the recruitment of a Software Engineer – Embedded Systems.

Reporting to the Senior Electronics Design Engineer, your role includes the design, development and testing of software development and maintenance. You will identify issues and work collaboratively with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders (internally and externally) to support continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

You should be a practical, curious software engineer who enjoys solving real problems and learning new things as requirements evolve.

The role:

• Develop, Maintain and problem solve the current aspects of software within the current product portfolio and future products.
• Reduce time to market of new features, on time delivery
• Improve response to failures/bugs
• Produce maintainable, well-structured and well-documented code
• Integrations and APIs
• Automation and tooling
• Embedded software and firmware development
• Working closely with Hardware, including microcontrollers, device communication and low level systems.

You:

• Degree in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related technical discipline
