Job summary

PA Consulting’s Oakdoor division seeks software engineers with 2–5 years of experience to join a fast-growing team working on secure, cross-domain hardware and software solutions. You will contribute to cloud, embedded, and network security-focused products in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes modern C++, Rust, Python, and real-time Linux experiences, with opportunities for growth, learning, and involvement across product and customer-facing areas.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience.
• Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
• Degree education or equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
• Experience with Modern C++ and STL or Rust.
• Experience with Python.
• Experience with bare metal, Linux and real-time OS.
• Cloud development experience.
• Knowledge or experience of network security.
• Desire to push for continuous improvement and quality software.
• Excellent communication and collaboration, including pair programming with TDD.

Salary: £52,000 - 92,000 per year

Requirements

• We are looking for software engineers with approximately 2 to 5 years of experience.
• We require qualification in a relevant subject area through degree education or equivalent experience.
• You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
• Key experience should include some of the following: Modern C++ and the STL, or Rust.
• Key experience should include some of the following: Python.
• Key experience should include some of the following: bare metal and/or Linux and real-time OS experience.
• Key experience should include some of the following: cloud development experience.
• Key experience should include some of the following: knowledge or experience of network security.
• You should have a desire to push for continuous improvement and deliver quality software.
• You should have enthusiasm for working collaboratively as part of a team, including pair programming using test-driven development.
• You should have excellent communication skills.
