Job summary

DoorDash’s Core BI team builds and operates production systems around BI platforms, focusing on backend services, APIs, integrations, automation, access and governance, observability, reliability and developer experience.

You will own problems from discovery through design, implementation, deployment, and operational support, working with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers and business teams to turn recurring needs into durable, self-service capabilities.

Qualifications

• At least two years of professional software engineering experience building production backend or data-platform systems.
• Proficient in Python or another general-purpose language; strong code quality.
• Solid SQL skills and understanding of data modelling.
• Experience building APIs, integrations, or automation with clear data contracts.
• Experience operating software in production, including CI/CD and monitoring.
• Able to own problems end-to-end and work with cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication in a fast-paced, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

About the Team

The Core BI team at DoorDash builds and operates the services, integrations and automation that power business intelligence across DoorDash, Deliveroo and Wolt. Our platforms help analysts, Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers and business teams discover trusted data and make informed decisions at scale.

We combine software engineering, platform ownership, and a strong user focus to make BI tooling reliable, secure, scalable and self-service. The team supports the current BI ecosystem while helping shape a more integrated experience across the DoorDash group.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Core BI team, you will build and operate production systems around our BI platforms. This is a hands-on software and platform engineering role focused on backend services, APIs, integrations, automation, access and governance, observability, reliability, and developer experience.

You will own problems from discovery through design, implementation, deployment, and operational support. You will work closely with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Product Managers and business teams to turn recurring user needs into durable, self-service capabilities. We're excited about you because...

• You have at least two years of professional software engineering experience building production backend, platform, infrastructure or data-platform systems.
• You write readable, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python or another general-purpose programming language.
• You are comfortable working with SQL and understand data modelling, databases, and data-platform concepts.
• You have experience building APIs, integrations, or automation and can reason about service boundaries, authentication, data contracts, and failure modes.
• You have hands-on experience operating software in production, including CI/CD, observability, debugging, incident response and operational readiness.
• You take end-to-end ownership and can turn ambiguous user or operational problems into secure, scalable, self-service solutions.
• You communicate clearly and work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
• You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, distributed environment and can organise your work independently.

Nice to Have

• Experience owning or integrating with BI platforms such as Looker, Sigma or comparable tools.
• Experience with BI metadata, governance, permissions, content lifecycle, migrations or usage analytics.
• Experience automating identity and access through Okta, SCIM or role-based access controls.
