Job summary

Motion Applied seeks a Software Engineer for the Data Platforms Team to design and deliver complex products for the ATLAS Advanced Telemetry Linked Acquisition System and related systems. You will employ cutting-edge tech to create robust, scalable software powering real-time and historical data analysis for motorsport insights.

Responsibilities include data streaming, modelling, visualization, and analytics to enable race engineers and strategists to access powerful insights.

Qualifications

  • First class degree or upper 2:1 in Computer Science or similar technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Thorough understanding of Software Engineering principles
  • Proficiency in C#.NET
  • Experience using the WPF framework
  • Experience using SQL
  • Experience using Git version control with development and release branching strategies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Azure DevOps
  • Good understanding and practice of agile project management frameworks
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and individually
  • High attention to detail and solid analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining the ATLAS software suite
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Field Application Engineers to understand and resolve race issues
  • Analyse user requirements for validity and feasibility
  • Detect, document and track software defects and inconsistencies
  • Apply quality assurance principles throughout the Agile product lifecycle
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities with the Data Platform team
  • Meet or exceed unit test case/code coverage
  • Support pull requests, peer reviews and knowledge transfer
  • Contribute to release planning and burndowns with development estimates
  • Write technical documentation
  • Identify risk and elevate appropriately when required

Purpose of the Role

As a Software Engineerin theData Platforms Team,you will work on a variety of challenges to design and deliver complex products and solutions for ourATLAS (Advanced Telemetry Linked Acquisition System)suite and other related systems.You will be passionate about technologyandeager touse the most effective and applicable technologies,to createrobust and scalable software.

You will work on a variety of challenges todelivercomplexproducts andsolutions,whichultimatelyenablerace engineers and strategists to access powerful, race-winning insights in F1 and other motorsports series.

Our software combinesmanycapabilities,includingdata capture,visualisationand modellingofreal timeand historic datafordetailedanalysis, reporting,anomaly detectionand enabling the best strategicdecisions to be made.

Through clean and consistent coding, you willcontribute tooptimiseour methods of data streaming, aggregation, manipulation,modellingandvisualisation.

Principal Accountabilities
  • DevelopingandmaintainingtheATLASsoftwaresuite
  • Collaborate closely withProductManagersandField Application Engineers tounderstand andresolve race issues
  • Analyseuser requirements, for both validity and feasibility

Knowledge, Skills, Qualificationsand Experience
Essential
  • First class degree or upper 2ndin Computer Scienceorsimilar technical field of study(or equivalent practical experience)
  • A thorough understanding of Software Engineering principles

Desirable
  • Experience withgraphics API’s(eg.DirectXor similar)
  • Experience in C++ / CLI
  • Experience in database/application scaling,optimisationand monitoring
  • Experiencewith time series databases
  • Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka
  • Experience and understanding of building products on cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure and GCPand micro services
  • Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed (eg.Python, Angular, React)
  • Experience with dependency injectionframeworks (eg.Autofac)
  • Experience in distributed computing, machine learning, data science
  • Experience with building data pipelines, data streaming applications
  • Experience in, or enthusiastic, aboutmotorsport
