About the Role
Davies Group is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Engineer to join our team. The role is varied, working on projects such as creating new Claims Management Systems, improving our existing Metrix systems, and developing bespoke back-office systems. You will primarily develop in PHP on a LAMP/WAMP stack, utilizing JavaScript and CSS to produce modern, professional, and responsive systems. The work environment is relaxed, following an Agile methodology, using various in-house frameworks and public PHP libraries. Experience with C#/.NET and OO principles is also desired.
What will your day look like
- Assist in defining and adhering to development patterns and standards.
- Develop and support applications using PHP, C#, .NET, and React.
- Contribute to various development projects across different business areas.
- Support business as usual activities or project deadlines, including out-of-hours work when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in PHP, C#, and .NET development, along with front-end frameworks such as React.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum frameworks.
- Flexible and adaptable work approach.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in OO languages such as PHP and C#.
- Experience with non-framework PHP development.
- JavaScript & jQuery skills.
- MySQL database design, normalization, and query writing.
- Test-driven development experience.
- Secure coding practices, e.g., OWASP principles.
Desirable Skills
- PHP frameworks (excluding WordPress).
- React and front-end/UI/UX skills.
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Code review and testing skills, including unit, end-to-end, and automation testing.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, working on Windows and Linux, AWS, Docker, APIs, and SOLID principles.
