Job summary

McGregor Boyall supports a leading financial services organisation in the City in finding a Software Engineer to help design and build scalable digital platforms across Europe. You will contribute to onboarding and engagement journeys with a cloud-native stack.

In a collaborative, product-led environment, you will work with Product, Design and Engineering teams, leverage AI-assisted tooling, and shape the next generation of customer experiences on AWS and modern frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience building Angular-based customer-facing apps.
• Backend services in Java Spring Boot.
• Strong AWS cloud experience.
• CI/CD and automated testing familiarity.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot or Claude.
• Ownership of features from design to production.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Angular-based customer-facing applications.
• Build and maintain cloud-native services within AWS environments.

Software Engineer

A leading financial services organisation in the City is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing the digital platforms that support client onboarding and engagement across Europe.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on business-critical digital products that directly contribute to client growth and customer experience. You'll be part of a mature, globally distributed engineering function delivering seamless digital journeys from initial customer engagement through to onboarding and account activation.

Working within a collaborative product-led environment, you'll help build and enhance modern cloud-native applications while leveraging the latest AI-assisted development tools.

The Opportunity

You'll be responsible for designing, building and supporting scalable digital applications that power customer-facing journeys. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Design and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions that improve client experience across multiple channels and integrated platforms.

The technology environment includes:

• Angular
• Java Spring Boot
• Node.js
• AWS (Aurora PostgreSQL, EC2, S3)
• CI/CD and automated testing frameworks
• AI-assisted development tools including GitHub Copilot and Claude

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Angular-based customer-facing applications
• Build and maintain cloud-native services within AWS environments
• Develop backend services using Java Spring Boot and Node.js
• Integrate third-party APIs and internal platforms to create seamless digital experiences
• Deliver well-tested, maintainable and scalable code
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and engineering best practice initiatives
• Work closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong commercial experience developing applications with modern Angular versions
• Experience building backend services with Java Spring Boot
• Solid AWS cloud experience, particularly with managed services and cloud-native architectures
• Node.js development experience
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar
• Ability to take ownership of features from design through to production deployment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Product-focused mindset with a passion for delivering outstanding user experiences

Desirable Experience

• Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
• Customer onboarding or digital acquisition platforms
• KYC, financial services onboarding or regulated industry experience
• AWS Certifications
• Monitoring and observability tooling experience
