Job summary

Amentum is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Robotics and Remote handling Team. You will work on developing, building and deploying robotic systems for challenging environments across Nuclear, Transportation, Space and Defence sectors.

The role includes mentoring team members and opportunities for formal training and conferences. You will deploy software to remote hardware, participate in CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with robotics engineers and partners across the UK and

Qualifications

• Strong background in software development (C++) and debugging.
• Hands-on experience deploying software in remote hardware systems.
• Experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. gtest, pytest) and continuous integration (e.g. Gitlab, Azure).
• Deployment of production software through containerisation (e.g. Docker) and package management (e.g. apt).

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of robotic systems for a range of industrial applications.
• Collaborate with colleagues and partners to create best-in-class solutions for new challenges.
• Support implementation of solutions within the UK and overseas where required.
• Liaise with other departments and organisations within and outside Amentum.
• Mentor and train team members as needed.

Job description

An opening has become available in the Robotics and Remote handling Team at Amentum for an enthusiastic senior software engineer. The successful applicant will join a growing team of engineers who specialise in developing, building and deploying robotic systems for solving clients' challenges such as maintenance and inspection activities in challenging environments across several industrial and critical sectors such as Nuclear, Transportation, Space or Defence. As part of the robotics software team the successful candidate will work alongside robotics engineers and also have the opportunity to mentor and train members of the team. Learning opportunities such as formal training or attending conferences are encouraged.,

• Support the development and implementation of robotic systems for a range of industrial applications.
• Work alongside colleagues and collaboration partners to innovate and develop best in class solutions to new and novel challenges.
• Support implementation of solutions where required both within the UK and overseas.
• Liaison with other associated departments / organisations both within and outside Amentum.
  Experience Software Engineer
• Strong background in software development (C++) and debugging.
• Hands on experience deploying software in remote hardware systems.
• Experience with software testing frameworks (e.g. gtest, pytest) and continuous integration (e.g. Gitlab, azure).
• Deployment of production software through containerisation (e.g. Docker) and package management (e.g. apt)
• Experience with infrastructure management, source code version and license management.
