Job summary

Sky is seeking a Release Engineer to join the Release Engineering team and help deliver reliable software releases across broadband and entertainment devices. You will plan, coordinate and execute releases, own schedules, readiness reviews, deployment plans and go/no-go decisions, and partner with multiple functions to align objectives and timelines.

This hybrid role requires strong CI/CD expertise, Linux scripting, and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in Release Engineering/Release Management/DevOps.
• Experience managing large-scale releases across multiple products and stakeholders.
• Understanding of SDLC, Agile, release governance and deployment strategies.
• CI/CD automation with Jenkins and Git workflows; familiarity with Gerrit/SVN.

Role/Team overview

Join the Release Engineering team and play a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality software releases across Broadband and Entertainment devices. You will coordinate release planning, build management, readiness, deployment and risk, working closely with Development, QA, Product and Operations to support stable customer experiences.

What you'll do

• Plan, coordinate and execute software releases, ensuring delivery is timely and meets agreed quality expectations.
• Own release schedules, deployment plans, readiness reviews and go/no-go decision support.
• Confirm quality, testing, compliance and deployment criteria are met before production release.
• Partner with Development, QA, Product and Operations to align objectives, dependencies and delivery plans.
• Monitor build health, release metrics and deployment outcomes, identifying and mitigating risks early.
• Communicate release status, risks, dependencies and mitigation plans clearly to stakeholders and leadership.

What you'll bring

Essential Criteria

• Significant hands-on experience in Release Engineering, Release Management, DevOps or Software Delivery.
• Proven experience managing large-scale releases across multiple products, platforms and stakeholder groups.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, Agile delivery, release governance, deployment strategies and operational excellence.
• Practical CI/CD and automation experience, including Jenkins and Git-based workflows, plus Git, Gerrit or SVN.
• Strong Linux and scripting capability using Python, Bash or Shell, with software development experience in C or C++.
• Strong analytical, organisational, problem-solving and communication skills, including release metrics and risk management.

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience in Broadband, Video, Set-Top Box, embedded-device or RDK environments.
• Experience improving CI/CD pipelines, build management and deployment automation.
• Experience evaluating tools, plugins and processes that improve release efficiency and quality.
