Job summary

Tesco Technology is building real-time personalisation capabilities to power Tesco’s customer experiences across web, mobile, and in-store channels. You’ll contribute to low-latency services, streaming data pipelines, and ML-powered systems at scale, collaborating with product, data science, and analytics teams.

You will work on Java backend services, microservices, and event-driven designs, using Kafka, Flink/Beam, and NoSQL stores, while improving reliability and supporting CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Build low-latency, high-throughput services for personalisation.
• Develop Java / Spring Boot microservices with REST/gRPC APIs.
• Work with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Build pipelines using Apache Flink and Apache Beam.
• Integrate ML models and feature stores.
• Work with NoSQL databases and Redis caching.
• Use Apache Camel for integration where required.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and analytics teams.
• Write automated tests and improve reliability.
• Monitor systems using New Relic, Splunk, and metrics platforms.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployments.
• Contribute to experimentation (A/B testing).

About the role

You'll work on complex engineering challenges spanning streaming data, low-latency decisioning services, and ML powered systems, while collaborating closely with product, data science, and analytics teams. You will be responsible for
