Job summary

UST is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Nottingham team. You will work on the Amazon Connect-Node-Typescript-Go-AWS stack, focusing on voice and chat channels, and contributing to platform roadmaps while ensuring secure, stable services.

You will join cross-functional teams to set engineering standards, mentor peers, and own end-to-end deployments from design to production, including incident response and performance tuning.

Qualifications

• Production-grade software engineering experience across the full SDLC.
• Ability to mentor engineers and set engineering best practices.
• Design and own software deployments end-to-end, thinking about backend patterns.
• Experience with incident management and performance optimisations.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be enabling a busy and thriving contact centre across voice and chat channels, while delivering on its own platform roadmap and ensuring we maintain a secure and stable service. You will be working in and across tech teams which is a natural part of our outcome-based culture, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to talk, coach, learn, and deliver great outcomes for our customers. We’d be looking for you to set and maintain our engineering standards while also bringing your peers along with you on this journey.

Key Skills

• Node/TypeScript or Go for your primary software development.
• AWS Serverless Ecosystem, using services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and S3.
• Amazon Connect.
• Jenkins for infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipeline management.

Monitoring & Logging tools to troubleshoot problems in a distributed network of systems, such as Logz.io opens in new window & NewRelic.

What You Will Bring

• Production-grade experience of software engineering and knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
• Lead by example, setting engineering best practices, and mentoring other engineers to broaden their skillsets.
