Description

Creating Safer Workplaces for Everyone.

We want to create a better working world by building a global network of responsible buyers and suppliers. Alcumus SafeContractor takes the pain out of compliance for over 50,000 organisations globally, helping them protect their people, their operations, and the planet. We support our network of hiring clients, suppliers, and contractors by keeping them compliant with the standards that matter most, from health and safety and sustainability to ethical behaviour.

As a Software Developer (.NET), you will play a pivotal role in building high-quality software applications that shape the future of our technology solutions. By collaborating within an Agile team, you’ll drive continuous improvement in development practices, influence the product roadmap, and deliver impactful features that enhance both user experience and business value. Your technical expertise in .NET, combined with your ability to communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders, will contribute to the development of cutting-edge products and the growth of our dynamic tech team. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, learn and grow, and have a direct influence on the success of the business.

What that means day to day

  • Work closely with the development team to understand, contribute to, and enhance tools, services, and platforms, while continuously improving team practices and working methods to boost efficiency and delivery. Lead initiatives to improve workflows and adapt practices when necessary.
  • Collaborate with both internal and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, streamline services, or develop new ones. Actively participate in gathering and documenting user requirements, writing user stories, and ensuring stakeholder needs are met throughout the development cycle.
  • Plan, write, test, and maintain code for web, mobile, and desktop applications in an Agile environment, adhering to established coding standards. Participate in peer reviews and solution design discussions to ensure high-quality output and best practices.
  • Work closely with quality assurance teams to maintain and improve coding standards, troubleshoot support tickets, and resolve issues effectively. Provide third-level support to business users while developing new features and enhancing the functionality of existing products.
  • Develop a strong understanding of application architecture and code structure, while adapting to new languages and platforms as necessary. Mentor junior team members and contribute to the product roadmap and future feature development, ensuring clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Take on additional duties as required by your line manager, ensuring flexibility and alignment with the role's scope and responsibilities.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Strong technical knowledge in .NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET MVC/Web Forms, HTML/CSS/SASS, TypeScript/JavaScript, RESTful APIs, SQL Server, and Entity Framework, with a solid understanding of web-based applications and related technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users, and the ability to build strong relationships and manage stakeholder expectations, both internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to influence, manage, and develop client and staff relationships, while focusing on customer experience, identifying opportunities for growth, and ensuring continuous improvement through self-evaluation.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure, meeting deadlines and delivering results with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Windows services, DevOps, Azure environments, continuous integration, and security best practices (OWASP, ISO 27001/27032). Knowledge of scalable applications, design patterns, and asynchronous programming techniques like queuing, caching, and logging.
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills with the ability to inspire others, and a degree in a relevant discipline would be beneficial.
