Job summary

Safran Actuation Systems UK is seeking a skilled Software Developer to join the Business Systems & Transformation team. The role focuses on developing, enhancing, supporting, and maintaining software solutions for manufacturing operations and business processes.

You will work across stakeholders to design, integrate, and deploy robust, secure applications, ensuring maintainability in a complex manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in software development, preferably within manufacturing environments.
• Strong SQL Server development and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience administering IIS web servers and using Visual Studio tooling.
• Experience with Tableau or other BI/reporting platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications supporting manufacturing and business operations.
• Manage and support Microsoft SQL Server databases, including query development, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
• Support application hosting environments, including IIS administration and configuration.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application, database, and integration issues in a timely manner.
• Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to software architecture, coding standards, and development best practices.
• Support cybersecurity initiatives through vulnerability remediation, patch management, and secure coding practices.
• Participate in the implementation and support of reporting and analytics solutions, including Tableau.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Developer to join our Business Systems & Transformation team and play a key role in our digital transformation journey. This position is responsible for the development, enhancement, support, and maintenance of a diverse portfolio of business-critical applications and digital solutions that support manufacturing operations and business processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical colleagues to design, develop, integrate, and support software solutions across the organisation. You will be responsible for delivering robust, secure, and maintainable applications.

This is a varied role requiring both hands‑on software development expertise and the ability to troubleshoot, support, and continuously improve existing systems within a complex manufacturing environment.

What youll bring

Educational Requirements and Industry Experience

• Experience in software development. Within a manufacturing or industrial environment is advantageous.
• Strong experience developing applications using Microsoft Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code.
• Experience in creating workflow approvals to manage day to day operations.
• Strong SQL Server database development and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience administering and supporting IIS web servers.
• Experience troubleshooting complex software, integration, and database issues.
• Experience with Tableau or equivalent business intelligence and reporting platforms.
• Understanding of software security principles, vulnerability remediation, and patch management.
• Experience working with source control systems and software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Exposure to manufacturing systems, MES, ERP, or digital manufacturing technologies would be advantageous.
