Geotek Limited in Daventry, UK, seeks a Software Developer to design, develop, and test software interfacing with advanced sensor hardware and data pipelines. You will work with geoscientists, engineers, and developers on 2D/3D visualization, imaging platforms, and real-time data processing.
You will contribute to driver development, hardware integration, and software validation, with a focus on reliability and performance for global clients.
Geotek Limited is looking for a Software Developer to design, develop, and test software for our world-leading portfolio of multi-sensor core logging and imaging instruments. Based at our headquarters in Daventry, UK, you will join a multidisciplinary team of geoscientists, engineers, and developers. This role focuses on developing the application layer and hardware-software interfaces that capture, visualize, and process data from our advanced sensors. This includes multi-sensor track systems (MSCL), 2D/3D X-ray CT, XRF, and hyperspectral imaging platforms.
Software Development: Design, build, and maintain robust desktop and system software to interface with instrument hardware, sensor networks, and data acquisition pipelines.
Testing & QA: Create and execute comprehensive unit, integration, and system validation tests to ensure exceptional software quality and instrument reliability.
Hardware Integration: Collaborate with electronics and mechanical engineers to implement drivers and control protocols for sensors, motor drives, and imaging cameras.
Data Processing: Optimize algorithms for high-speed geological data collection, real-time visualization, and 2D/3D image rendering.
Support & Maintenance: Debug, troubleshoot, and upgrade existing legacy codebases based on internal testing and feedback from international clients.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related physical science/engineering field.
Hardware/Sensors: Proven experience writing software that communicates with physical hardware devices, serial interfaces, USB devices, or ethernet-based sensors.
Testing Frameworks: Demonstrated experience with automated unit testing, regression testing, and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
Version Control: Proficiency using Git for collaborative codebase management
Programming: Strong proficiency in Delphi / Object Pascal, or a solid background in C# or C++ with a strong willingness to cross-train into the Delphi environment.
Data Visualization: Experience with 2D/3D data plotting, graphics libraries (OpenGL/DirectX), or image processing frameworks.
Scientific Computing: Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or C++ mathematical libraries for data analysis.
Domain Knowledge: Interest or background in geophysics, physics, signal processing, or industrial automation.
This is an on-site role with occasional overseas travel. You must be able to undertake the required travel and have the right to work in the UK by the agreed start date.
