Overview

Software Delivery Manager – Agile Transformation Leader in Manchester (Hybrid, 2 days in office). Drive transformation, lead a talented team, and shape the delivery of mission-critical software at scale for a national organisation advancing society through technology. Following rapid growth through acquisitions, the organisation operates several software verticals, each as its own business unit but united by a forward-looking technology division. This role offers real challenge, variety, and opportunity for career growth across different teams. You will take ownership of a high-profile integration platform and lead a squad of around ten people — including developers, testers, analysts, architects and a product team.

This is a chance to make a measurable difference by unblocking delivery, embedding agile ways of working, and supporting critical projects underpinning some of the UK’s most important digital services.

What You’ll Do

Lead a cross-functional squad delivering complex integrations (120+ connections between core systems and third parties).
Drive agile transformation — progressing a team from ~50% maturity toward ~80% through coaching, consistency, and cultural change.
Focus on two key delivery outcomes: velocity (more work completed, faster) and cycle time (shorter time from start to finish).
Identify and remove blockers across the lifecycle — from requirements and testing through to environments and third-party dependencies.
Play a visible leadership role in shaping delivery culture, sitting on the divisional leadership team.
Oversee critical projects such as replacing legacy systems that support training for 45,000 external associates each year.

About You

A proven delivery leader: proactive, quick-thinking, engaging, and able to energise those around you.
Strong background in software delivery, with solid understanding of testing, requirements, architecture, and environments.
Hands-on experience with Agile approaches (Scrum, Kanban, hybrids) — not just in theory, but with real examples of improving team performance.
Technically aware, with the ability to challenge, unblock, and guide teams across the SDLC.
Naturally curious, resilient, and passionate about finding new ways to deliver value faster.
