Software Architect

Location: Home-Based- Europe

Bentley Systems is seeking a talented Software Architect to become a valued member of a dedicated software architecture team. This global team’s main responsibilities are to collaborate with, support, and guide other software architects in the company. The team reports to the CTO and will be in a leadership position to contribute to evangelize and operationalize his vision for the architecture of Bentley products and platform.

The team will also run programs in support of common architecture practices across the company. This position should appeal to candidates who enjoy deep technical discussions and who want to be exposed to a variety of technologies. Bentley has hundreds of products of various types including desktop, mobile, traditional server, and cloud microservices. Moreover, the candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a global, diverse team of remotely located experts.

We Will Rely On You For The Following

• Setting direction for other architects and generating consensus among groups of collaborating stakeholders.
• Community leader for the architecture community of practice. Making sure the network of architects is active and healthy.
• Provide recommendations and be a sounding board for architecture ideas and problems.
• Communicate efficiently around the architecture decisions and recommendations to generate buy-in, visibility, and alignment.
• Create architecture concept documents (ACD) to capture the constraints and decisions.
• Create bridges between organizations and their architecture helping them see the big picture and delivering an integrated landscape of products.
• Define requirements and guard-rails for other architects to use when creating architecture
• Help stakeholders balance the various demands to organically evolve architecture.
• Train developers and architects or create educational support
• Develop tools and automation supporting the responsibilities
  
  
  

What You Bring To The Team

• Demonstrated expertise in Software Architecture with a minimum of 4+ years of hands-on experience in the role.
• Strong background experience in software and development.
• Proficiency in design and architectural patterns is required.
• Proficiency in public cloud technologies is required, Azure is a plus
• Experience with containerization solutions with Kubernetes and Docker, is required.
• Ability to balance all architecture qualities into a proposal: security, fault-tolerance, backward compatibility, extensibility, maintainability, availability, confidentiality, integrity, usability, performance, cost-reduction, portable (multi-cloud), etc.
• Big-picture thinking of the short- and long-term repercussions of architectural choices
• Proficiency with security and identity
• Strong problem-solving capabilities
• Capability to research a new topic and learn quickly
• Experience breaking down complex systems to analyze them
• Excellent ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complicated technical issues and to convincingly present an optimal solution
  
  
  

What Would Make You Stand Out

• Knowledge/ Experience with web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, HTTP, REST, ODATA, GraphQL, etc.).
• Good knowledge of some of the following programming platforms/languages: .Net Core. Node.js, C#, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, C/C++.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect.
• Ability to make risk-based, unbiased, decisions that include both technical and business impacts.
