Marchant Recruitment is seeking an articulate Teacher of Sociology & Criminology to join a social sciences faculty in Blackburn, Lancashire. The role covers GCSE Sociology, A-Level Sociology, and Level 3 WJEC Criminology on a full-time, permanent basis starting January.

The successful candidate will teach KS4 and KS5 across the specified qualifications, guide UCAS applications, and support student wellbeing through pastoral duties. A QTS/UK teaching credential and an enhanced DBS are required.

Formación

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS, QTLS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
• Honours degree in Sociology, Criminology, Social Policy, or a closely related discipline
• Demonstrated experience delivering positive GCSE/A-Level Sociology or WJEC Criminology outcomes
• Strong essay-structure mentoring capabilities and controlled assessment moderation familiarity
• Active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Responsabilidades

• Teach engaging Sociology and Criminology lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level / Level 3 WJEC)
• Guide Criminology students through internal controlled assessments (Unit 1 & Unit 3) and external exam prep
• Train Sociology pupils in theoretical evaluation, empirical research methods, and structured essay writing
• Assess, track, and report on student progress across formal mock exams and controlled assessment portfolios
• Support Sixth Form students with university applications in Law, Criminology, and Sociology
• Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development
