Job Overview

We cover Burton, Uttoxeter, Lichfield, Burntwood and Tamworth. The work base for this post will be in Lichfield.

The Social Care pathway provides a truly integrated, recovery‑focussed service to the people of South Staffordshire aged 16 and over who are experiencing significant and disabling functional mental health difficulties.

Our social workers are core members of the multi‑disciplinary mental health pathways supporting the recovery journey of adults with significant mental health needs.

We are supported by strong partnerships and working relationships with local service providers and voluntary agencies. We pride ourselves on providing a responsive and effective service to the communities of South Staffordshire.

We currently have an opportunity for a Level 2 social worker and would particularly welcome applications from social workers who are also Approved Mental Health Professionals.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Trust, we offer informal support and advice as required, monitored caseload numbers, monthly formal supervisions and membership to the Social Work Learning Academy, which supports ongoing professional development opportunities, learning and career development. You will have direct support from the Practice Lead and colleagues as well as providing peer support to your team.

You will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car. This is an interesting and challenging post for someone who has a commitment to improving outcomes for the citizens of Staffordshire.

On appointment, the post holder will be auto‑enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA stage (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker)) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own CPD.

You must have significant post‑qualifying experience, preferably of working in mental health services, and be registered with Social Work England.

The Social Care Pathway in South Staffordshire currently has accommodation in Lichfield and Burton.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and innovative individual who possesses excellent communication and organisational skills and has a good working knowledge of the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

The successful candidate must be a team player with excellent communication and IT skills. If you are not a warranted AMHP, you must be committed to undertaking AMHP training at the earliest opportunity.
