Job summary

Caritas Recruitment is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Looked After Children team in Devon on maternity cover and interim assignments. You will manage caseloads, complete assessments and care plans, and collaborate with families and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for children in care.

Hybrid working is available with some office-based duties; SWE registration and UK right-to-work are required, along with a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England (SWE).
• Registered to practice in the UK with Right to Work in the UK.
• ASYE completion is required or has been completed.
• Experience in Children’s Social Care and safeguarding.
• Experience working in multi‑agency environments and court proceedings.
• Strong assessment, recording and planning skills are essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant children’s social care legislation and practice.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children and young people in care.
• Complete high-quality assessments, care planning and reviews.
• Work with children, families and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Ensure no drift or delay in planning for children and young people.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings and court-related work.
• Deliver effective recording, assessment and SMART planning.
