Job summary

Slough Borough Council is seeking a Social Work Assistant for the East Locality to support residents through holistic assessments, care planning and timely responses to enquiries. You will identify risks, promote wellbeing and help create personalised, strengths-based plans that keep people connected and as independent as possible.

The role requires experience in a social care environment, strong communication, IT and relationship-building skills, and the ability to record information clearly

• Pay Level: 7, £43,253 - £48,795 (fully inclusive of Local Weighting Allowance)
• Contract Type: Permanent
• Working Hours: 37 hours per week
• Location: Observatory House/ Slough Hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office)

What you'll be doing:

Are you passionate about helping people live safely, independently and with dignity in their own communities? We are looking for a compassionate, practical and confident Social Work Assistant to join our East Locality team and make a meaningful difference to residents and carers every day.

In this rewarding role, you will support residents through holistic assessments, care and support planning, reviews and timely responses to enquiries. You will help identify risks, promote wellbeing and create personalised, strengths-based plans that enable people to remain connected, supported and as independent as possible.

You will be part of a team that supports people at important moments in their lives, helping them build confidence, access community resources and receive the right support at the right time. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems and making a visible difference in the community.

You will bring experience of working in a social care environment with vulnerable people, along with strong communication, IT and relationship-building skills. You will be confident speaking with residents, carers and partners, able to record information clearly under pressure and comfortable supporting people who may be in distress or crisis.

Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
