Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is recruiting Social Workers for the Staffordshire Families Integrated Front Door. You will assess needs, safeguard children and work with partners to make safe decisions, while developing autonomy under supervision.

This frontline role offers a collaborative, learning‑oriented environment with opportunities to grow within the whole‑system model and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
• Experience working in children’s social care with safeguarding focus.
• Strong assessment, analytical and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of children and young people, identify risk and determine required support or protection.
• Collaborate with partners to share information and make safe, shared decisions.
• Apply professional judgement and thresholds to ensure children’s safety.
• Manage your own caseload with support from a Team Manager and progress toward autonomy.
• Maintain high‑quality, timely case records.
• Contribute to service improvement by sharing best practice and learning.
• Provide guidance to student social workers and apprentices.

Main Responsibilities

You’ll:

• Assess the needs of children and young people, identifying risk and deciding what support or protection is required
• Work closely with partners to share information and make safe shared decisions
• Use your professional curiosity, decision-making skills and understanding of thresholds to ensure children’s safety
• Manage your own caseload with the support of a Team Manager, developing increased autonomy as you progress
• Maintain high-quality, timely and accurate case records
• Contribute to service improvement by sharing best practice, ideas and learning
• Provide guidance to student social workers and apprentices.

The Ideal Candidate

You will need:

• A recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registration
• Experience of working in children’s social care
• Strong assessment, analytical and communication skills
• Confidence working with partner agencies in a multi‑agency environment
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and strengths‑based practice
• A passion for making a difference—right from the first conversation with a family
