Job Description:

Overview:

The Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT) is the frontline, single point of contact for safeguarding concerns related to young people within Northamptonshire. Reports are initially received by the MASH service and then forwarded to DAAT. The team comprises 6 units, each with 8-10 staff, including a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, and Family Support Workers.

Service expectations include visiting CIN cases within 5 days and CP cases within 24 hours or the same day if possible. The team operates at a fast pace to ensure children are seen promptly.

Service Area:

DAAT covers all Northamptonshire areas, with candidates working within an allocated geographical area (e.g., Daventry, Northampton Central, Corby). This approach aims to support long-term placements in a specific area.

Working Arrangements:

The team follows a 6-week duty cycle. Candidates must be in the office for a full week during their duty week and be local during visit times. Outside of their duty week, remote work is permitted, with provided equipment such as laptops, keyboards, and extra screens to facilitate working from home.

Condensed hours are considered, but candidates must be available full-time (5 days) during their duty week.

Team Environment:

DAAT at NCT is a stable service with predominantly permanent management staff. Current locum managers have been with the service for over 2 years, offering strong support. Caseloads are capped at 35, typically working with around 5 families at a time, considering many families have multiple children.

Training and Expenses:

Training is available via overspill from permanent staff training allocations, scheduled based on time served. Expenses include £150 per week for candidates living over 60 miles from the office (proof of address required), £30 per day for workdays outside the duty week if over 60 miles away, and mileage at £0.45 per mile.
