Job summary

Southend City Council is seeking a permanent Qualified Social Worker for the Children Looked After (CLA) Team. The role focuses on cases after care proceedings, with some court work and an average caseload of 16–18.

You will deliver efficient services to children and families, with robust assessment and evidence-based plans. You will work in a hybrid setup, attending the Civic Centre at least 2 days a week and one duty day.

Qualifications

• Recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England; ASYE completed.
• Experience in Children's Frontline services and knowledge of child protection, looked after children; social work practice essential; knowledge of methods of social work intervention.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high standard of service to children, young people and families; conduct assessments and develop realistic action plans.
• Prepare and submit written reports including statements and care plans for care proceedings in Family Proceedings, County and High Courts.
• Maintain thorough case recording and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and council policies.
• Hybrid working available but on-site at the Civic Centre for a minimum of 2 days per week; duty days 1 day weekly.
