Job summary

Cygnet Bury Hudson is seeking a confident Social Worker Assistant to join our team in a full‑time role (40 hours per week). This position supports men with complex mental health needs within a secure environment, offering a clear path for career progression.

You will work with service users, families and professionals to deliver high‑quality care, ensure safeguarding, and uphold patients' legal rights. DBS check required; salary £28,120 per year.

Qualifications

• Experience in working within a mental health setting or a strong interest in this field.
• Good communication with service users, families and professionals.
• Awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and equality.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with service users, families and other stakeholders.
• Contribute to high‑quality care for patients.
• Lead on the social care needs of patients and maintain links with statutory agencies.
• Ensure patients and carers understand their legal rights.
• Support safeguarding in MDTs and provide reports for teams.

Each service user has a bedroom with en suite facilities and a range of communal spaces including a gym, laundry, occupational therapy kitchen, therapy garden and woodland walkways down to the Elton Reservoir.

You are...

• Experienced in working within a mental health setting, or passionate about this field
• Knowledgeable of safeguarding, H&S, data protection, confidentiality, equality & diversity
• An excellent communicator with exceptional interpersonal, IT & telephone skills
• Aware of the Mental Health Act
• Skilled in report writing with excellent literacy skills & attention to detail.
