Job summary

We Manage Jobs is seeking a Qualified Social Worker (or nearing completion) to join our Assessment Team in the Local Authority in Shrewsbury. This role offers exposure to a varied caseload and early family engagement from referral, with case holding through the assessment and subsequent transfer to relevant teams.

The post highlights 37 hours per week across 52.14 weeks per year, with progression through NJC Grade 7–11 career grades, within a dynamic assessment environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker or nearing completion of qualification.
• Experience handling varied caseloads and working with families.
• Knowledge of assessment processes and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Case hold for the duration of the assessment and plan next steps.
• Engage with families from the outset following referral into the service.
• Transfer cases to appropriate teams after assessment (e.g., Case Management Team, Children Looked After Team, Court Team or Early Help).

• Assessment Team

Working in the assessment team is a dynamic and exciting opportunity. The position would appeal to a social worker who enjoys a varied caseload, enjoys engaging with families from the outset following referral into the service. Each day is different and working within the assessment team will give you a well rounded working experience, working with a range of families in need of help and support. Typically you will case hold for the duration of the assessment, with children then transferring to either the Case Management Team, Children Looked After Team, Court Team or stepping down into Early Help.

37 Hours and 52.14 Weeks per year.

NJC Grade 7 - Grade 11 Career Grade.
