Assessment & Intervention Social Worker

Southend-on-Sea City Council is currently seeking an experienced and resilient Social Worker to join their busy Assessment & Intervention Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive service dedicated to improving outcomes for children and families in a vibrant coastal city.

The Role

As an Assessment & Intervention Social Worker, you will be the first point of contact for children and families. You will be responsible for undertaking high-quality Single Assessments, Section 47 inquiries, and initial interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the community.

Working Arrangements & Rota

We are looking for candidates who value flexibility and team cohesion. The working arrangement is as follows:

  • Hybrid Model: There is a requirement to be on‑site a minimum of 2 days per week, though this may increase depending on the immediate needs of the service.
  • Duty System: The team operates on a rotational duty system. You will be required to be office‑based during your scheduled Duty Week.
  • Backup Duty: In the two weeks between your Duty Weeks, you will be part of a Backup Duty Rota. You must be available and present in the office on your allocated backup days (typically equates to 1 or 2 days across the two-week period).
Key Requirements
  • Driving is Essential: You must hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
  • Qualifications: A recognized Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma/Masters) and active registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience within Children’s Services, specifically within Frontline Assessment, MASH, or Safeguarding teams.
  • Skills: Strong ability to analyze risk, write clear and concise reports, and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
