Job description

Social Worker Vacancy

The North Tyneside Council Adult Social Care Community Wellbeing Teams are going through an exciting redesign and expansion.

The service works with a wide range of adults who draw on care and support, including older adults, younger adults with physical disabilities, and neuro divergent people. This will offer you a varied workload giving opportunities to develop your skills.

We have remodelled our teams to work effectively: the Assessment and Support Planning team specialises in providing short-term support, proportionate support; the CORE team focusses on longer-term collaborative risk management and trauma-informed practice; and the Review team supports people with ongoing needs, harnessing equipment and technology to promote inclusion and independence for longer. We will match you to your team based on your skills and knowledge to help you thrive.

Using an innovative and evidence based caseload weighting framework, we will make sure your workload stays equitable, based on complexity and intensity, rather than just numbers. All our social workers currently have access to AI to help save time typing, so you can concentrate on supporting people.

As well as investing in more social work posts, we are also increasing the number of managers to enable more reflective practice and coaching to help you do your best work.

We will support you with your career ambitions ;we are incredibly proud to have come 2nd in the country for social worker satisfaction in the 2025 Employer Standards Health Check. We achieved 'Good' rating in our recent CQC inspection, which highlighted our positive organisational culture and investment in professional development.

Wherever you are in your social work career journey, we are looking to hear from you. We support newly qualified social workers via our AYSE programme, with monthly master classes to help you to get to grips with qualified practice. Our progression framework offers structured support to achieve progression to our upper pay grade in as little as 2 years. Following progression, we fund a wide range of post-qualifying training through higher education institutions.

And, when the time is right, we provide social workers with a development programme as they move into leadership roles.

What we are looking for is an appreciation for strengths -based , trauma-informed and systemic approaches, analytical thinking , and legal literacy. Sounds like you?

'When I first stepped into this role I did so with a sense of hope and naivety, believing I could make a real difference in people's life's. This is not always easy, some days are incredibly tough, and progress can feel slow. But when things go well and you can see the impact of your support, its deeply rewarding and those moments remind me why I do this job and why it matters.'
