Job description

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for an Education Safeguarding Advisor/Local Authority Designated Officer to work full time based in Haringey.
The salary for this permanent Education Safeguarding Advisor/Local Authority Designated Officer job is up to £57,102 per annum.

  • To ensure that the Council’s duties under the relevant legislation are discharged in accordance with Council Policy in relation to individual service users, parents and carers. Ensuring that children are safeguarded in the community, not just those that make allegations.
  • To manage and oversee the allegations management process in line with safeguarding procedures contained in Working Together 2018, Keeping Children Safe in Education and other statutory guidance that relate to the identification of those at risk or in need of protection, and determine with the employer the most suitable method of intervention.
  • To participate in the LADO duty system that ensures cover is provided to partners and agencies during office hours.
  • To maintain records of work undertaken and to produce reports in accordance with established administrative policies and procedures.
  • To work effectively with other sections of the Service and other colleagues in other statutory and voluntary agencies in order to provide a comprehensive and appropriate service to children, young people and their families.
  • To liaise as necessary with representatives of other Local Authorities in respect of professional abuse issues that span council boundaries.
  • To assist and support agencies and employers in their practice by providing advice, guidance, coaching and training in relation to managing allegations that are made against those people who come onto contact with children in their working environment.
  • To assist with reviewing and developing procedures and guidance for schools and other educational settings where required.
  • To support effective communication and effective liaison between school and other agencies involved in safeguarding work.
  • To prepare reports on safeguarding practice in schools and other partner agencies for senior management and the HSCP if required.
  • To undertake any other temporary responsibilities aligned with the overall purpose and grade of the role.

Requirements of this role:

  • Social work qualification with registration with Social Work England.
  • Management experience of at least 5 years.
  • Experience in managing social work caseloads and supervising others.
  • Experience of community and/or group work.
  • Knowledge of children’s health and social care systems, agencies, and relevant legislation.
