Social Worker – Children’s Services
Location: High Street, Blaina, Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent, NP13 3BN
Contract: 30th May 2025 – 28th November 2025 (26 Weeks)
Hours: 37 hours/week, Monday–Friday (Flexible Scheduling)
Pay: £30.50/hour (PAYE) or £40.09/hour (Limited/Umbrella) + agency support benefits

What You’ll Do:
Conduct social work assessments and manage care plans, ensuring compliance with legislation, national standards, and Blaenau Gwent policies.
Empower service users by promoting independence, providing advice on available services, and advocating for their best interests.
Write clear, concise reports for various audiences, including courts and safeguarding reviews, and represent Social Services in multi-disciplinary settings.
Coordinate and monitor care plans, involving service users, carers, and partner agencies, and ensure effective reviews and outcomes.
Adhere to health, safety, and equality policies, supporting anti-discriminatory practices and safeguarding responsibilities.

What We’re Looking For:
Skills: Strong assessment, care management, and advocacy skills, with the ability to write clear reports for diverse audiences.
Qualities: Empathetic, organised, and committed to empowering service users, with a focus on safeguarding and equality.
Experience: Proven social work experience, ideally in Children’s Services, with knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.
Requirements: CQSW, Diploma, or BA Honours in Social Work; registered with Social Care Wales; eligibility to work in the UK.
Bonus Points: Experience in court or safeguarding settings; Welsh language skills (or willingness to learn basic greetings).
