Job summary

Renfrewshire Council is recruiting a Social Work Assistant (Temporary) to join a multidisciplinary team assessing and care managing with adults who have learning disability. You will support delivery of Social Work services, undertake assessments and reviews, manage individual care packages, and work collaboratively.

You must record work using electronic case recording systems such as SWIFT and travel across Renfrewshire. The post is funded for 12 months, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• Effective communication, literacy, organisation and time management skills.
• Experience of dealing with the public.
• Desirable: SVQ Level 3 in Care or ability to work towards it.

Social Work Assistant (Temporary)

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, undertaking assessment and care management with adults who have learning disability.

Duties of the post include: supporting the delivery of Social Work service in accordance with relevant legislation; undertaking assessments and reviews; responsibility for the care management/planning of individual packages of care; and undertaking joint working.

Effective communication, literacy, organisation and time management skills, experience of dealing with the public aswell as knowledge and understanding of data protection is essential.

You will be expected to record and monitor work using electronic case recording systems including SWIFT therefore must have the ability to use IT packages.

Experience in Health Care, Social Care, Social Work or support services with a clear understanding of risk assessment and An SVQ Level 3 in Care or an ability to work towards it is desirable.

The teams are located in high quality modern premises and operate in accordance with the Council's WORKSMART arrangements which promote mobile and flexible work practices. All Social Work Assistants are considered to be and equipped as mobile workers and can operate throughout the Renfrewshire area from any Council premises. You will therefore be expected to travel throughout Renfrewshire.

Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the department's commitment to continuous improvement.
