Job summary

Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting a Team Manager to lead the Social Work Academy for Bedford Borough Council. The role focuses on developing newly qualified social workers and shaping the next generation of practitioners.

You will oversee the Academy team, provide professional leadership, and collaborate with universities on placements and staff development to maintain high standards of practice across the borough.

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work degree or equivalent qualification.
• Current Social Work England (SWE) registration.
• Proven experience in a Team Leader, Team Manager or similar leadership role within social work.
• Must be an experienced Practice Educator.
• Experience supporting, supervising or developing newly qualified social workers and social work students.
• Strong leadership, communication and partnership-working skills, including experience liaising with universities and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Managing and overseeing the Social Work Academy, ensuring effective support and development for newly qualified social workers.
• Line managing two Advanced Practitioners, who supervise 10 Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) social workers.
• Liaising with the University regarding student placements, training and professional development.
• Working closely with students across the borough to support their learning and development.
• Providing leadership, guidance and professional support to Advanced Practitioners and the wider Academy team.
• Promoting high standards of social work practice and supporting the development of a skilled and confident workforce.
• Ensuring that learning, supervision and development arrangements support high-quality social work practice.
