Are you a dynamic and driven Social Sciences professional looking to take your career to the next level? A leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy is seeking a Social Sciences Manager to lead and develop their social sciences team, delivering high-impact projects within the mining and natural resources sectors.

In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for steering the strategic direction and technical excellence of the Social Sciences department. You'll manage diverse teams, oversee key client projects, and ensure delivery of specialist studies that integrate into Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) or stand alone as key offerings. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and a strong understanding of the social dimensions of sustainability in complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the Social Sciences team across global offices.
  • Manage multidisciplinary projects in line with internal methodologies, ensuring quality, timelines, and budget adherence.
  • Deliver specialist services such as socio-economic impact assessments, resettlement action plans, and local economic development strategies.
  • Foster strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities through strategic account management.
  • Support business development through proposal writing and industry engagement.
  • Provide team leadership including recruitment, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

What You Bring:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (social sciences, environmental management, development studies).
  • Experience in a consulting environment, with specific focus on the mining sector.
  • Proven track record in delivering ESIA-related studies and managing social performance aspects.
  • Strong project and financial management skills.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
