Digby Wells Environmental is seeking a Manager, Social Sciences in East London, South Africa. The role involves managing the Social Sciences team, overseeing project management, financial operations, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic growth and direction for the department.
• Manage and review projects ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and quality standards.
• Act as a key accounts manager for designated clients.
• Provide project reporting and analytics to stakeholders.
• Manage the department's finances, including budgeting and forecasting.
• People management: development, recruitment, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
• Grow market share through upselling and cross-selling services.
• Maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Manage workload schedules and workforce planning.
• Research technological and legal developments relevant to the field.
• Develop and oversee the Social Sciences Services departments.
• Provide specialist studies related to ESIA and standalone products.
• Carry out fieldwork under strenuous conditions.

New Business Development:

• Develop a business plan for the department.
• Identify and pursue business opportunities.
• Coordinate and submit proposals.
• Conduct legal audits related to legislation.
• Prepare reports for clients and authorities.
• Participate in marketing activities.

Requirements:

• Postgraduate degree in relevant field.
• Project Management Certificate is advantageous.
• At least 5 years' experience in the field, preferably in consulting and resources industry.
• Experience in conducting specialist studies and in services like socio-economic impact assessments, resettlement action plans, and local economic development plans.
• Knowledge of ESIA processes, people management, project and financial management, customer management, and report writing.
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and interpersonal skills.
• Driver’s license is essential.
