Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Communications Assistant to help manage social media, content creation, and campaign materials. You’ll work with the media team and designers to keep residents informed about highways and county services.

The role is full-time and fixed-term until March 2028. It is office-based with an option to work from home, requiring at least two days in the office weekly and occasional travel to gather content.

Qualifications

• Minimum criteria include a degree in marketing or related field or equivalent experience in media, marketing or communications.
• Experience in media, marketing or communications, including paid or voluntary work.
• Experience of working with the public and across levels of an organisation.
• Excellent communication skills across channels and audiences.
• Confident using Microsoft Office and social media.
• Flexible, willing to learn and well organised.

Responsibilities

• Writing content for social media, websites and newsletters.
• Using social media to support campaigns and media work.
• Researching and reviewing campaigns.
• Drafting, checking and sending out campaign materials.
• Creating videos, photos and graphics.
• Posting updates on our website and social media channels.
• Reviewing how well our communications have worked and monitoring media coverage.
