Role: Social Housing Solicitor

Leading law firm looking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Social Housing Solicitor / Supervisor for a highly sought-after permanent position.

Housing Department Background:

The Housing team, ranked by The Legal 500, provides assistance to landlords and tenants on all housing issues. They are experienced in resolving housing disputes efficiently, offering lawyer-supported dispute resolution or ADR for housing disrepair cases. The department also represents clients in courts for unlawful eviction, possession proceedings, and judicial reviews related to homelessness.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Report directly to the Department Director.
2. Maintain a proactive professional approach with strong client care skills and a sensitive understanding of clients’ needs.
3. Manage all aspects of Housing work, providing technical guidance to team members when appropriate.
4. Handle a caseload involving public and private housing issues including Homelessness, Disrepair, Eviction, Possession, Property Disputes, Succession, and Neighbourhood Problems, with advocacy responsibilities.
5. Supervise caseworkers and trainees.
6. Attend client meetings, take instructions, and prepare cases.
7. Manage correspondence and maintain accurate time recording.
8. Follow supervisor recommendations and ensure compliance with file management protocols.
9. Participate in the Housing Court Duty Scheme as required.

Key Skills Required:

1. Valid Practising Certificate at application time.
2. Team player with a proactive approach, excellent client care, and sensitivity to vulnerable clients.
3. Proven supervisory experience and ability to meet KPIs.
4. Strong networking and communication skills, with ability to market the firm and generate new business.
5. Excellent analytical, organizational, and judgment skills.
6. Knowledge of publicly funded housing work and legal representation.
7. Extensive experience in housing law.
8. Advocacy skills are advantageous.
9. Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and document management.

On Offer:

Salary & Supervision Bonus – Social Housing

• NQ: £46,000 (London) / £44,500 (Outside London)
• 1–3 PQE: £48,000–£52,000 (London) / £46,500–£50,500 (Outside London)
• Supervision Bonus: Up to £8,000 (London) / £7,400 (Outside London)
• Supervisor Bonus: £1,250–£2,750 (London) / £1,150–£2,550 (Outside London)
