GLASGOW CITY COUNCIL AND ARMS LENGTH ORGANISATION is seeking a Social Care Worker for Homeless Services to manage a busy caseload and work within a multi-disciplinary team at GCHSCP, North West Glasgow. PVG membership is required upon appointment and interviews are scheduled in December.

Role – Social Care Worker (Homeless Services)

Location – GCHSCP, Homeless services, North West, 30 Mansion Street, Glasgow, G22 5SZ

Contract Status –Temporary up to 31st March 2027

As a Homelessness Social Care Worker you will be expected to manage a busy and varied caseload, work as part of a team, and report to a Senior Homeless Worker.

The primary focus of this post is to minimise the risk of people becoming homeless, through the provision of good quality housing option assessments, information and assistance, working with colleagues across the Glasgow City Health & Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP), voluntary and private sector partner agencies, as part of the broader homelessness prevention agenda.

Where homelessness cannot be prevented, the Social Care Worker will take responsibility for the provision of statutory homelessness assessments in line with the Housing (Scotland) Act 1987 as amended, secure temporary accommodation, develop person centred care and support plans, provide risk assessments and put in place appropriate support services, and prioritise the provision of settled accommodation where required.

The successful applicant will be experienced in managing a demanding caseload and completing needs assessments. Be enthusiastic, highly motivated, willing to learn within a changing environment, with strong communication skills and able to demonstrate an excellent approach to customer service gained through experience of working with the general public.

It is desirable for you to have SVQ level 3 in Social Care/ HNC or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards the qualification.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

These roles are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
