Job summary

Fife Council in Cowdenbeath is seeking a permanent Care Practitioner to deliver care and support at Broad Street Respite Unit. You will promote social inclusion and lead activities that improve personal independence while working as part of a team or on a lone basis.

Exact hours vary (36, 30, 28 or 19.5 per week) with shifts including days, evenings, sleep-ins and nights, and you must meet SCQF level 6 / SVQ3 criteria and complete CALM training. PVG clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Must have Social Services and Healthcare SCQF level 6 (equivalent to SVQ3) or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration.
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as lone working.
• Must be physically fit to undertake Moving and Handling and CALM training.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, sleep-ins and wakened nights including public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote social inclusion and offer opportunities for people in Adult Services (Resources), Respite Unit.
• Deliver care and support, including participating in social and recreational activities.
• Support service users to increase social and independent living skills in a person-centred way.
• Carry out all aspects of moving and handling and CALM-related tasks.
