Job summary

ProTech Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced SMT Supervisor to oversee daily SMT production in Hemel Hempstead. You will lead a busy team, ensure production targets are met with quality and safety as priorities, and coordinate with Engineering and Quality to resolve issues.

The role requires substantial SMT manufacturing experience, knowledge of AOI and first-off inspections, and proven leadership abilities. Monday to Friday, on-site with standard production hours.

Qualifications

• Three years of SMT manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, AOI, first-off inspections and rework.
• Experience leading or coordinating a production team.
• Ability to read production documentation and work instructions.
• Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of ESD and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily SMT production in line with plans and priorities.
• Allocate operators and resources to meet requirements.
• Ensure machine setup, kit readiness and first-off builds.
• Maintain housekeeping, ESD compliance and standards.
• First point of contact for shopfloor issues; escalate when needed.
• Monitor output, downtime and production constraints.
• Support operator training and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality to resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IPC and health & safety procedures.

SMT Supervisor

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Hours: Monday to Friday

We are looking for an experienced SMT Supervisor to join a busy electronics manufacturing team. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the SMT production area, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and safety.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong SMT manufacturing experience and previous team leadership or supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities as an SMT Supervisor

• Coordinate daily SMT production in line with production plans and NPI priorities.
• Allocate operators and resources to meet production requirements.
• Ensure machine setup, kit readiness and first-off builds are completed.
• Maintain housekeeping, ESD compliance and production standards.
• Act as the first point of contact for shopfloor issues, escalating technical concerns where required.
• Monitor production output, downtime and constraints.
• Support operator training, quality standards and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve production issues.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IPC standards and health and safety procedures.

Skills & Experience as an SMT Supervisor

• Minimum three years' experience in an SMT manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, AOI, first-off inspections and rework.
• Previous experience leading or coordinating a production team.
• Ability to read production documentation and work instructions.
