Job summary

KPJ Group, based near Manchester, is seeking an experienced SMT/PCB Production Engineer to join a specialist electronics manufacturing business in Little Hulton, Salford. You will drive process improvements across SMT and PCB production, support NPI activity, and provide hands-on technical support to production teams.

The role requires at least 2 years in a Production/Process/Manufacturing Engineering role within electronics, with strong knowledge of SMT/PCB manufacturing, schematics, BOMs and

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SMT assembly, PCB manufacturing and electronics.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a Production, Process or Manufacturing Engineering role within electronics.
• Experience supporting SMT / PCB production, NPI and engineering change.
• Ability to read electronic schematics, PCB layouts and BOMs.
• Knowledge of SMT and THT rework processes.
• Experience investigating manufacturing defects and carrying out root cause analysis.
• Recognised engineering qualification at HNC level or above.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and IT skills.
• Confidence working independently and alongside Production, Quality and Engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Driving process improvements across SMT and PCB production.
• Investigating manufacturing defects and supporting root cause, containment and corrective actions.
• Analysing production and yield data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
• Providing hands‑on technical support to PCB and Production teams.
• Supporting NPI activity and implementing engineering changes into production.
• Creating and maintaining PCB build, inspection and process documentation.
• Developing operator instructions and delivering process and equipment training.
• Supporting CAPEX proposals, production jigs and fixture development.
• Working with Production and Quality teams to improve process consistency, yield and product quality.
