Job summary

KPJ Group is seeking an experienced SMT/PCB Production Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing site in Little Hulton, Salford. You will drive improvements across SMT and PCB production, support NPI, and provide hands-on technical support to manufacturing teams.

You will investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, read schematics and BOMs, and help deliver engineering changes while collaborating with Quality and Production teams to raise yield and product quality.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SMT assembly and PCB manufacturing.
• Experience in electronics production, process or manufacturing engineering.
• Ability to read electronic schematics, PCB layouts and BOMs.
• Experience investigating defects and performing root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Driving process improvements across SMT and PCB production.
• Investigating manufacturing defects and supporting root cause, containment and corrective actions.
• Analyzing production and yield data to identify recurring issues and opportunities.
• Providing hands-on technical support to PCB and Production teams.
• Supporting NPI activity and engineering changes into production.
• Creating and maintaining PCB build, inspection and process documentation.
• Developing operator instructions and delivering training on processes and equipment.
• Supporting CAPEX proposals, production jigs and fixture development.
• Collaborating with Production and Quality to improve process consistency and product quality.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced SMT / PCB Production Engineer to join a specialist electronics manufacturing business in Little Hulton, Salford.

This is a role suited to someone with a strong background in SMT processes, PCB assembly and electronics manufacturing, as you will be supporting production, investigating quality issues and driving process improvements across the PCB department.

What will you be doing as an SMT / PCB Production Engineer?

• Driving process improvements across SMT and PCB production

What will you need?

• Strong knowledge of SMT assembly, PCB manufacturing and electronics
• At least 2 years' experience in a Production, Process or Manufacturing Engineering role within electronics
• Experience supporting SMT / PCB production, NPI and engineering change
• Ability to read electronic schematics, PCB layouts and BOMs
• Knowledge of SMT and THT rework processes
• Experience investigating manufacturing defects and carrying out root cause analysis
• Recognised engineering qualification at HNC level or above
• Strong problem-solving, communication and IT skills
• Confidence working independently and alongside Production, Quality and Engineering teams
