Job summary

The Tobacco Dependency Advisor role at Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is a permanent, full-time position based at either Durham or Darlington with local travel requirements. The service operates Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm, and offers a supportive environment for smoking cessation work.

You will assess and support patients, deliver treatment plans, and collaborate across teams to promote smokefree goals while adhering to infection control and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

• Basic Maths and English skills (minimum Functional Level 2).
• Experience in mental health or learning disability settings preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assess and develop treatment plans for patients identified as smokers.
• Provide one-to-one or group support to meet individual needs.
• Coordinate transfer to CSSS and community services as needed.
• Record CO readings and maintain infection prevention and control.
