Job summary

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is seeking a Tobacco Dependency Advisor to support inpatients to stop or reduce smoking and promote smoke-free policies across inpatient services. You will work with the Tobacco Dependency Lead and other teams across Cambridge and Peterborough sites, with core hours 9am–5pm, Monday to Friday.

You will assess patients, develop personalised cessation plans, arrange pharmacotherapy, and monitor progress while ensuring timely documentation

Qualifications

• Knowledge of evidenced- based smoking cessation interventions.
• Good written and verbal skills.
• Passionate about putting service users first and delivering high-quality services.
• Knowledge of risks of smoking in mental health.
• Awareness of national initiatives and guidance.

Responsibilities

• Screen patients for smoking status and refer to Tobacco Dependency Service.
• Conduct face-to-face initial assessment and agree a personalised plan.
• Provide ongoing support during admission.
• Ensure access to appropriate pharmacotherapy.
• Update activity on Electronic Patient Notes System.
• Support monthly reporting requirements.
• Signpost for discharge to smoking cessation resources.
• Provide staff updates and support staff in stop smoking efforts.
• Collaborate with ward staff to share information on tobacco health improvement.
