Job summary

South East Water is seeking a Smart Meter Reporting and Data Analyst to turn complex meter data into actionable insights, drive water efficiency, and support the Smart Metering rollout. You will own end-to-end reporting for household and non-household properties, ensuring data accuracy and regulatory compliance.

The role collaborates with Insights and data teams, delivers agile, ad-hoc analysis, and identifies improvements to increase efficiency across the business.

Qualifications

• GCSE/O-Level Grade A–C (or equivalent) literacy and numeracy demonstrated or evidence in similar role.
• Analytical ability to analyse large datasets and extract actionable insights for water efficiency.
• Proactive approach to improving processes and reporting techniques.
• Effective communication to translate data conclusions into recommendations.

Summary

As a Smart Meter Reporting and Data Analyst, you will play a central role in driving the success of our Smart Metering project and hitting our PCD targets. In this position, you will turn complex smart meter data into actionable insights that identify critical trends, curb customer demand, and tackle leakage. Managing end-to-end reporting across household and non-household properties, you will safeguard data accuracy, maintain regulatory compliance, and work closely with internal teams and installation partners to streamline our rollout. We are looking for someone who proactively elevates our analytical tools and delivers agile, ad-hoc insight to propel continuous improvement across the entire business.

Main responsibilities

• Analyse comprehensive datasets for household and non-household customers to provide actionable insights that drive water efficiency and demand reduction.
• Develop and maintain reporting dashboards using advanced technology to monitor team performance and support strategic planning.
• Present data-driven recommendations to influence interventions and shape long-term strategy.
• Collaborate with Insights and data teams across the business to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure technical alignment.
• Identify and implement process improvements through MI mechanisms to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the customer journey.
• Ensure all reporting and operational activities remain compliant with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Engage and manage stakeholders effectively, demonstrating commercial awareness to support the evolving needs of the Smart Metering project.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned as the team evolves.

You’ll need: Skills / Qualifications / Experience

• Educated to GCSE/O-Level Grade A–C standard or equivalent, or demonstrable experience in a similar role that evidences equivalent literacy and numeracy skills.
• Analytical - ability to analyse large data sets and draw conclusions from these to inform the water efficiency programme of work to ensure best approach to targeting.Reliable and adaptable - to be able to prioritise data requirements in line with business needs and present these when required.Effective communicator - to be able to translate data conclusions into recommendations.
• Proactive - to be proactive in their approach to work and strive to improve existing processes and reporting techniques.Problem solving - to be provide analytical techniques to present a solution.
• Team player - to work with all functions across the Customer Demand Channel to deliver reporting and analytical requirements where necessary.
• Experience within the water industry is highly desirable, though candidates with transferable knowledge / skills from related utility sectors (e.g., gas, electricity, or telecommunications) will be considered.
• Experience of using SQL, Business Objects, Google reporting tools and advanced excel skills essential.
