Job summary

MEP Hire is part of Vp plc in the Dunfermline area. As our Small Tools Service Engineer, you will repair customer machines to manufacturer specs, maintain high standards, and support the branch with safe, compliant operations.

You will be IT literate with basic repair knowledge and an eye for detail. You will help with fleet marking, cost allocation, and ensure a safe, productive working environment in line with HSE requirements.

Qualifications

• IT literacy and basic repair knowledge are essential.
• Experience in MEP or hire equipment is advantageous.
• Commitment to health and safety within the branch.
• Ability to set objectives and develop skills through training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs to MEP Hire equipment following manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure spares are requested to support repairs and replace damaged stickers.
• Mark fleet items and allocate costs; ensure safe ownership and traceability.

As our Small Tools Service Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs to MEP Hire and customers’ machines according to manufacturer’s specifications and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• You will ensure that spares are requested to facilitate the speedy repair of equipment and that damaged/worn stickers are replaced.
• You will be accountable for marking fleet items, ensuring correct allocation of costs, affordability of repairs and equipment ownership, which will be easy to identify.

What We’re Looking For:

• You will also need to be IT literate and have some knowledge of repairs
• We are ideally looking for applicants with industry experience however this is not essential.
• Taking responsibility for the health and safety within your branch, you must make ensure the business is compliant with HSE legislation and offers a safe working environment for the branch team as a whole, but also for individual employees within their roles.
• The role requires an effective people person with the ability to set objectives and assess progress but also to ensure that you are fully trained and developed in order to carry out your role.
