Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor - Nautical in Cleethorpes to ensure UK and international safety standards for small vessels. You will survey and inspect vessels, issue certification, and provide expert technical advice to vessel owners and colleagues within MCA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience surveying small craft and issuing certificates under MCA standards.
• Ability to advise vessel owners and colleagues on regulatory requirements.
• Capability to train and mentor surveyor colleagues in MCA procedures.

Responsibilities

• Train or coach Marine Surveyor colleagues on MCA S&I activities to ensure consistency.
• Carry out surveys leading to statutory certificates for small vessels and act as lead surveyor where applicable.
• Inspect small vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with international conventions and UK law.
• Provide MCA policy-based advice to industry and the public, liaising with designated vessel owners.
• Maintain training and competence records and support peer review/activity monitoring.
