Job summary

Beaumont College, part of Salutem Care & Education, invites a Speech and Language Therapist to join its multidisciplinary therapy team. You will support young adults (18–25) with complex communication needs, autism and learning disabilities, helping them access learning and maximise independence.

Based in Lancaster & Blackpool with travel to Carlisle and Ulverston, the role involves caseload management, AAC implementation, and dysphagia support within a Total Communication Environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex communication needs.
• Knowledge of AAC and total communication approaches.
• Experience in assessing and managing dysphagia.
• Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Manage caseload of students with complex communication needs and dysphagia.
• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate evidence-based SLT interventions.
• Develop person-centred communication plans and monitor student progress.
• Support implementation of AAC systems, Makaton, Intensive Interaction and other approaches.
• Promote a communication-rich learning environment across the college.
• Collaborate with OTs, PTs, and education/support teams.
• Maintain HCPC records and participate in supervision and CPD.
